Brand identity and re-election website for Jeanné Kapela, who represents District 5 in the Hawaiʻi State House. The work covers the whole system — brand book, logo suite, and the site — and it had to do something specific: feel warm and rooted in aloha while still carrying the authority of a sitting representative. The mark needed to read on a roadside sign, a lapel pin, and a single social tile without losing itself.
The brand book is complete and signed off, and the one-screen teaser is live now while the full website is built alongside the campaign.
Ocean blue carries the system — the hibiscus, the rules, the fills; it reads as island water and open sky. Campaign red is held in reserve for the wordmark and the single primary call to action, so it never dilutes. A deep teal-ink anchors the type, and warm paper opens up the backgrounds for photography and pattern.
The idea in the mark. A hibiscus does the emotional work — “leading with aloha” — and Montserrat does the discipline: ExtraBold for the surname, SemiBold italic for the first name, Medium tracked for labels. One family, four weights, so the whole campaign can be set by anyone with Google Fonts and never drift.
Built to be used, not just admired. The system ships as a full kit — horizontal, stacked, one-line, icon, and a dedicated vote button — in original, reversed, and dark styles, with and without backgrounds. Repeating-hibiscus patterns and sized banners (web, social, conference, roll-up) extend the brand to a step-and-repeat or a sign-wave without redrawing anything.
Delivered in PNG and SVG. PNGs at ~4× for drop-in print; SVGs with text converted to outlines so every lockup renders identically whether or not Montserrat is installed. The teaser landing is live now — “more on the way, stay tuned” — collecting updates and volunteers while the full site comes together.
